The first time I heard a preacher make the declarative statement that God is a Singer-Song Writer; I fell deeper in love!
The proclamation had been unexpected yet captivating, so reverting, so delightfully beautiful, my heart leaped with insurmountable joy. But what my heart now clung to as precious golden apples of truth, my mind sought to believe. Rhetorical questionings that wavered on the shores of doubt flooded.
The devil, sin, perpetuated widespread lies about God have drastically degraded and clouded humanity’s center of reasoning with layers of misconception. Benumbed by intoxicating influences of un-sanctifying secularism there arises a failure to grasp the elevated possibilities about our magnificent God that far exceed finite human conceptualization.
Consequently, even daring to consider that God could actually do something so passionate, so intimate, dare I say even so romantic as to serenade His Creation, could to some sound border line heretical.
But praise be to God who through Jesus has set us free from entanglements of Satan’s lies and sin that we may know the truth. By that truth. You and I are set free to know, believe and personally experience God’s solemn serenade.
For those who will abandon their lives to His care, our compassionate God composes a special song. He pens an endearing harmony uniquely composed of lyrics that rhythm and rhyme in poetic orchestra, with each note depicting each one’s unique story of redemption.
Marvelously, He then places that tune in the heart of the redeemed with the intent that Soul shall proclaim the melody in concert near and far. Stemming from hearts magnified with gratitude, awed by salvation’s most precious gift, a glorious outburst is heard declaring,
“And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD” (Psalm 40:3)
God is the lover of our souls. He comforts His own by consolations of sweet melody.
In Zephaniah 3 verse 17 the promise is reassuringly echoed,
“The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.”
This one verse is pregnant with so much hope ready to be birthed by the believing heart, mind and soul. God holds dominion over all Created things. Least we should place our regard on our weaknesses and feebleness; we are urged to lay hold of the truth that our Lord is mighty and will deliver on His promise of salvation and thereafter, sing to us in joy!
Running to His arms as the oppressed would into the arms of freedom, we are met by His strong embrace. There our heaving, sighing, breathless hearts finally find their eternal rest. Then as our desperately seeking eyes meet His in an adoring gaze, upon His loving face we behold perfect love, absolute acceptance, not a trace of condemnation, purity of joy. Just as we venture to think that life just could not get any better, a most melodious sound enraptures our ears…… God begins to sing……
May this be our hearts’ prayer:
Oh that my life would dance to in holy rhythm to the Lord’s sacred tune. May He alone be the Singer-Song Writer, and the life I now live in Him transition and transcend in rhythmic melody…
