“Don’t dig in doubt, what you’ve planted in Faith.”
Elisabeth Elliot
I must confess the past few months I’ve struggled to “Trust God”, so many things have happened and I’ve shed my fair share of tears. Frustrated, confused and feeling overwhelmed l was constantly on my knees asking God to answer my prayers. I wanted something magical and out of this world to happen instantly. I begged God to come down from Heaven and talk to me personally, l mean l really needed an answer straight away. One day l woke up in the middle of the night grabbed my bible, concordance, journal, highlighter and pens, with tears in my eyes l searched for the word “Trust” in the bible and l was amazed at how many verses there are in the bible about trusting God.
Firstly, let us define the term “trust”. The dictionary definition says;
Trust is reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, surety of a person or thing. It is confidence and a confident expectation of something. We can go on further and search for the meaning of “reliance” which is the confident or trustful dependence on something or someone.
So to me trusting God means knowing beyond a shadow of doubt that He loves us, cares for us and has our best interest at heart. It’s so sad how we are so quick to trust our family, friends, the bank, work, the university people and so on but we are so slack when it comes to trusting in God, the one who created us, knows us and has our names written on the palm of His hand.
That night the first verse l turned to was 1 Peter 5:6-7 which says;
“Therefore humble yourselves [demote, lower yourselves in your own estimation] under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you, casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully. (AMP)
Next I searched for verses on trust, I will share 20 of them. I encourage you to get your bible, highlight them and memorize them. If you are struggling to trust God about an area in your life, I encourage you to start trusting Him again for His word is true and He wants nothing but the best for all of us.

“Unto you, O Lord, do l bring my life. Oh my God, l TRUST, lean on, rely on, and am confident in You. Let me not be put to shame or [my hope in You] be disappointed; let not my enemies triumph over me. Yes, let no one who trust and wait hopefully and look for You be put to shame or be disappointed;…” (AMP)
- Psalms 28:7

- Jeremiah 17:5
Thus says The Lord, “Cursed is the man who TRUSTS in man and makes flesh His strength, whose hearts departs from The Lord.
And finally my personal favourite:
Psalm 37:3-6
TRUST in The Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in The Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to The Lord, TRUST also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light and your justice as the noonday. (NKJV)
l know it can be so hard to trust God when things are not going your way but His word is true and trusting Him is the only thing that we can do. God will always come through for us. The more I’m learning to trust Him, the happier l am. I am at peace knowing that God has everything under control. There is NOTHING that is too hard for my God to do. His timing is perfect and In HIS time, in “due” time, He will answer our prayers, It may not be in the way that we want but it will be in the best possible way. My challenge for you this month is “Why not trust God again”? We have no reason to doubt!
Is there any area of your life that you are struggling to trust God with? Do you have any prayer request? Leave a comment below and l will pray for you. Keep your eyes focused on Jesus Christ!
