WHO AM I…
that the eyes that see my sin would look on me…
with love and watch me RISE again….?
A while back, my very good friend Miriam asked me to write something for this very beautiful Christian blog. Caught up in my everyday life, busy with love, family, friends and studies…I always found a reason not to write. Now that I look back maybe I wanted to find a reason not to write. This was not because I loved the Lord any less…It was simply because I FORGOT. In many ways, my behaviour was antithetical to my ‘so-called beliefs’. I often made time to do other things like watch television whilst recuperating from the events of the day….(in all of this what I FORGOT WAS GOD). Now that I look back it’s plausible that my myriad of sins often gave me a sense of shame to kneel before the Lord. Despite all of this, what’s amazing is that God’s love is ever-present. In fact, the bible tells us that he is our refuge and strength..an EVER-PRESENT help in times of need (Psalm 46:1).
“WE JUST HAVE TO SEEK HIM.”
We often look for love in various places…I remember reading one of Miriam’s posts; she stipulates that she used to search for happiness in all the wrong things. I definitely concur with that because we relate in so many ways. We both share a love for fashion, in fact, my thesis is based on the dress so I, like most women view dress as a pivotal phenomenon in society. For me, it’s not merely a form of concealment but a conduit of self-expression that can fulfil numerous functions in my life. However, fashion can only do so much… then you will feel empty again. This is not to say fashion is bad, what I am simply trying to say is that fashion and otherworldly things will give you happiness momentarily. Only God can fill the void that most if not all individuals have.
"fashion and other worldly things
will give you happiness momentarily.
Only God can fill the void that most,
if not all individuals have."
Not too long ago, I experienced a major setback in my life. I was at my lowest point and did not understand why God would neglect me during such a trying time. Yet, what we do not understand is that even if he seems late and you feel like he has forgotten you. It is at this time that he is working THROUGH YOU…IN YOU.
I HAD TO FALL TO RISE…
I HAD TO FALL TO REMEMBER MY VERY FIRST LOVE,
JESUS CHRIST.
I had forgotten my Lord and Saviour; I no longer remembered my anchor and fortress so he gave me a nudge and reminded me. Always remember, he feels your hurt and allows certain situations to happen in your life to reveal a greater purpose in your life. Through your sorrow you will be led to strength and through your trials and tribulations …you will seek him and praise him in the storm. He will calm the storm in you because he is an ever-loving God.
Celebrate God’s love for you in all things although in many instances you may not understand. Take the time to listen to these songs if you feel you relate to my situation in any way:-
