I have worn glasses all my life, from a young age I was diagnosed with an astigmatism. I cannot see clearly out of both eyes without glasses. My friend invited me to her 21st birthday party at Thorpe park and I love roller coasters so I was happy to go. I waited all day for the fastest roller coaster in the whole of the theme park 0 – 80 mph in 30 seconds to me that was amazing. All those brave enough got on the ride and we went zooming across the track at neck breaking speed. Half way round the track the roller coaster paused and it dawned on me, my glasses were still on my face. I reached towards my face to grab them but as I did the roller coaster took off and the glasses flew into the distance. I sat in horror and amazement as I realised what had just happened and that was the end of my time at Thorpe park.
The biggest issue for me was Thorpe park is in London and I live a 3 hour train journey away. The friends at the party lived 2 hours away from me so the train journey ahead was going to be long and daunting. As it was time to leave my friend took me to the station and put me on my first train. I couldn’t even see the signs above the seats to know if I was in the right place. I got talking to a young Muslim who helped me to read my ticket so I knew where my change was and as we got talking about God I was able to give him the book “Steps to Christ” as we went our separate ways.
I departed the first train and then lugged my bags to a waiting area. I frantically tried to focus my eyes and look for a ticket officer. I can assure you the Angels took over here. I asked for directions but couldn’t even see where the persons arm was pointing so spirit lead I just walked. Miraculously I made it to a platform somewhere and heard chatter about a train to my hometown. I waited for he train to come but couldn’t see any blurred activity. I heard a whistle blow and saw a red tunnel ahead of me something urged me to run towards it so I did. I asked “is this the train?” And I heard the reply “yes quick it’s just leaving” so I leaped on and Praise be to God I made it home safe that night.
That taught me that God is really there for me at all times. He can be my eyes when I can’t see. In my most vulnerable state God got me home and I will forever be grateful!
God’s way’s never fail to amaze me. Just two weeks ago I got on a train home from my friends it was a 2 hour journey nothing I hadn’t done before and I decided l would watch a movie on the way back. It was a Christian movie and in my head the person next to me could look over, recognise the Christian attributes and then that would be my way of witnessing. Another opportunity arose the person got up so I gently placed an evangelism tract between us so that He would find it and read it happily. All of my intentions were good but LAZY.
God calls us to TELL people not just try to lay down things in their path and subliminally tell them about Him. Just about to watch the movie the person I had been trying to subconsciously reach started a conversation and unlike any other train journey we spoke for the whole 2hours at least 1hour of that talk was about Church and faith and I had the chance to hear religion from the eyes of an agnostic who I could feel secretly wanted to believe in God. I was also able to give them an evangelism tract hand to hand this time which meant I had to retract the first one, which was on the wrong subject according to the needs of this particular individual anyway!
So I learnt that Gods work will be done and must be done. A willing heart is a great thing but without bravery God alone can give it has little to no use! Stand up for God because people WANT to hear about Him!!
